Layne: That’s it! We’ve analyzed the combatants’ weapons, skills, and tactics. Let’s get this fight underway!

Xander: It’s time for a DEATH BATTLE!

The monster known as Orochi sat upon his throne. The sounds of battle sounded outside. He could hear many of his soldiers being slaughtered like so much cattle.

The demonic being known as Taira-no-Kiyomori burst through the door, thrown in by some unknown force. He reached out, pleading for his Lord Orochi to intervene before being finished off by a stomp from someone’s boot.

The source of the boot was a true giant of a man. His fire red hair contrasted with his dark skin. His jeweled headdress and elaborate leather armor marked him as someone of some import.

He raised his hand, showing that he had the fox demon Da Ji by the neck. She, like Kiyomori, reached out to Orochi, weakly begging him to intervene. She was silenced with a slight tightening of the man’s grip, snapping her neck and ending her.

Orochi stood up from his throne. There was no further need for words. The intruder had made his intentions clear. Although…

“You’ve made your intentions clear,” Orochi uttered, “But I would know your name before I send you to your grave.”

Orochi’s foe simply laughed in a deep tone. “I have no name the likes of you deserve to know,” he said, “But know that I am Ganondorf, King of the Gerudos.”

“Very well then, Ganondorf,” Orochi replied, his weapon seeming to appear in his hand out of thin air, pointing it at Ganondorf, “Come, and meet your end.”

Ganondorf merely chuckled, crossing his arms. This ‘Orochi’ would fall, just like all the others who’d opposed him up until now.

FIGHT!

*Cue Music*

Ganondorf charged forward, as did Orochi. At the last moment, Ganondorf spun around, outstretching his leg which seemed to become engulfed in violet flames. Orochi blocked the kick with his scythe, but it nonetheless sent him skidding backwards. As he lowered the scythe, Ganondorf was upon him, grabbing him by the throat, the hand engulfed in the same violet flame as before.

Ganondorf merely chuckled, slamming Orochi in to the ground and violently kicking him away. Orochi swiftly recovered, quickly running up and impaling Ganondorf through the chest. At first, Ganondorf slumped over as if dead. But the back of his hand began to glow, and on closer inspection, there was some kind of design on it: Three triangles arranged in a triangular pattern, with the top one glowing most intensely.

Orochi heard a hoarse laughter coming from Ganondorf, who seemed to come back to life and stare daggers in to Orochi’s eyes. Orochi, stunned for a moment, could do nothing but watch as Ganondorf forcefully removed the scythe from his chest, no blood spewing forth from the wound.

“If you desire bladed combat…” Ganondorf growled, “Then I shall oblige you!” With the final two words, Ganondorf lifted Orochi, casually tossed him back and drew a massive broadsword which widened at the tip to give it a kind of “head.” Ganondorf planted the sword in to the ground and rested his hands in it, smiling, beckoning Orochi to attack him.

Orochi obliged, cutting Ganondorf’s side with his scythe, only for Ganondorf to respond with a massive swing of his broadsword, which Orochi blocked, albeit not without getting knocked a good ways away. Orochi resumed the onslaught, swinging his scythe in a massive arc, only to have it blocked by Ganondorf.

There they stood, their respective blades deadlocked.

After a few moments, Ganondorf smiled and chuckled. Orochi couldn’t imagine why he’d be--…

*Cue Music*

Orochi’s thought was interrupted by a massive pain in his foot, courtesy of Ganondorf. Using the distraction, Ganondorf forced Orochi away and raised his sword over his head and swung it down in a huge arc. Orochi managed to duck out of the way, and Ganondorf’s sword buried itself in the ground, leaving a small crater in the ground. Orochi attempted to attack, but Ganondorf charged his fist with dark magic, readying for the Warlock Punch.

As Orochi swung his scythe, Ganondorf backhanded him with the Warlock Punch, sending him flying.

So… Ganondorf wanted to play with magic? Orochi could do that, easily.

Orochi planted his scythe in the ground, outstretching his hand.

Ganondorf prepared for what was about to head his way.

Orochi let fly several fireballs Ganondorf’s way. Ganondorf pulled hs blade out of the ground and swung in a wide arc, dousing the fireballs. Of course, Orochi had more to give.

Orochi sent out even more fireballs. Ganondorf swung once more, extinguishing some. He ducked and weaved several others. The final one, he backhanded, sending it back to Orochi. Orochi didn’t see it coming and took the fireball full-force. Orochi merely shrugged it off and grabbed hold of his scythe.

Ganondorf wasn’t about to let that happen. He charged and swung his blade downward again, and Orochi again dodged it, this time planting his scythe in to the ground and concentrating his magic through it. The ground Orochi and his scythe pulsated with some kind of electricity-like energy, no doubt magical in nature. Ganondorf was unable to get away in time, and both his sword and he caught the brunt of the magical attack. Though Ganondorf seemed to be in pain for a brief moment, his howls and roars echoing in the halls, he stopped after a few moments, though the magic appeared to flow in to him. He stared daggers at Orochi, who merely lifted his scythe and quickly shattered Ganondorf’s sword.

Ganondorf leapt back, sure he would be next. Orochi turned to Ganondorf, staring him down and daring him to continue.

Ganondorf cast aside the broken blade and, in its place, drew a pair of curved blades with tassels of some kind on the end of the hilts. He assumed a stance with the blades firmly in hand.

Orochi pointed his scythe at Ganondorf, daring him to make a move.

Ganondorf was happy to oblige.

*Cue Music*

Ganondorf charged Orochi, entering in to a brief exchange. Orochi booted Ganondorf away before swinging his scythe downward as Ganondorf had done previously. With one blade, Ganondorf deflected the blow. With the other blade, Ganondorf ran Orochi through the chest.

Ganondorf smiled. With a flick of his wrist, Orochi slid off of the blade, limp and lifeless, like a piece of meat.

Ganondorf sheathed the blades, the fight over.

He began to walk to the throne.

He stopped. Something was wrong. Some sort of dark power was gathering… He looked back at Orochi.

*Cue Music*

Dark clouds began to gather around Orochi’s corpse. Ganondorf ran to try and do something about it.

Too late.

With a massive burst of dark energy, Orochi’s hair went white and his headdress fell off.

Orochi X had arrived.

Orochi grabbed hold of his scythe, seeming to give it new life. He charged Ganondorf, who barely managed to draw his twin scimitars in time to block a slash from the scythe… Even if the blades were left shattered. Orochi slashed at Ganondorf a few times more before unleashing several fireballs point-blank, blasting Ganondorf away.

Ganondorf rolled in to a pillar, causing it to collapse on him. A mere second later, the rubble was blasted away as Ganondorf charged out of it and towards Orochi.

Ganondorf spun around again, outstretching his foot as he had before, and it was alight with violet flame. Orochi made no attempt to dodge, catching the Wizard’s Foot in the face. But Ganondorf followed up quickly, winding up his fist for another Warlock Punch. The Punch connected, and Orochi was sent through a wall out on to the battlefield, which was littered with dead bodies and discarded weapons.

Ganondorf looked through the hole to see his work, only to instead see Orochi, standing there and simply staring at Ganondorf, apparently unharmed. Ganondorf leapt out through the hole in the wall, landing mere yards from Orochi. He drew yet another blade, this one a pale gold that glowed with a faint light.

*Cue Music*

Ganondorf despised using the Warlock Blade, but it was clear that he needed to in order to put Orochi down. The two slowly paced towards each-other.

Ganondorf made the first move, stabbing at Orochi with the Warlock Blade. It was easily deflected and countered by Orochi, but the counter was ducked.

And so, for a few seconds, King Gerudo and the Fallen Mystic entered a brief exchange as their blades clashed.

But then, for just the briefest of seconds, Orochi saw an opening. He immediately seized on it, impaling Ganondorf through the chest yet again. This time, however, it did something other than agitate Ganondorf.

Ganondorf roared in apparent agony as the symbol on his hand glowed even more intensely than before. Withdrawing his scythe, Orochi leapt back, unsure of what to make of it.

Before long, Ganondorf, still howling in agony, disappeared in a cloud of pitch-black smoke and lightning, something that could only represent dark magic.

As the magic faded away, where Ganondorf now stood was what could only be called a monster.
It was just as tall as Ganondorf, yes, but it was far fatter. It donned completely different armor and had a pig-like appearance, save its blue skin and horns. In its hand, it wielded a spear with a skull emblem where the blade met the shaft.

“Now…” it growled, lifting its spear to the skies, “You face Ganon!”

With that shout, thunder struck the ground right besides Orochi, prompting the former Mystic to leap away from the next bolt, which would certainly have destroyed him.

Lightning struck all around Orochi as Ganon laughed. After a few narrowly-avoided bolts, Ganon swung is spear in a wide arc.

“You will DIE!” Ganon roared as fireballs were sent forth from his spear. Orochi, having only just dodged a lightning bolt, could do nothing as the fireballs set him alight. Ganon struck with his spear, impaling Orochi through the chest again.

With a laugh, Ganon lifted Orochi over his head and flung him away like a used article of clothing. This time, though, Ganon impaled Orochi through the chest one last time for good measure. Orochi’s body faded in a haze of black fog.

Orochi was gone now. Ganon began to make his way back to the throne room, only to be stopped mere moments later by a wall of flame blocking his path. Ganon turned to see the source of it, and saw...

*Cue Music*

What he saw was a serpent’s head, easily as big as he was alone.

Wait, no, there were two.

Wait, three.

Four?!

The count finally stopped at eight as the Hydra reared back and roared at Ganon.

Two of its heads looked to the heavens as it shot fireballs in to the air. Another two began to gather flame within their mouths. As the fireballs from the first two heads began to descend, Ganon once more raised his spear to the sky, and they were struck out of the air by lightning bolts.
As for the other two heads, a pair of fireballs flew in to their mouths, courtesy of Ganon. The fireballs exploded in their mouths, causing the heads to rear back.

Ganon took the opportunity to concentrate as much of his dark magic as he could, striking each of the Hydra’s eight heads with lightning bolts. The four heads previously struck by Ganon’s magic flailed and eventually retreated underground. A massive column of black mist burst from the hole where the Hydra’s heads had once been. Black mist from the columns fell on the ground, eventually dispersing to reveal… Four Orochis?!

Each one looked as Orochi had originally, but they donned different colors of armor: red, yellow, blue, and violet.

They each mindlessly walked towards Ganon, who readied himself against them.

One mindlessly lifted its scythe and slowly swung it down, an attack that Ganon easily dodged despite his massive size. Was Orochi mocking him? Or maybe…

Ganon easily impaled the Orochi that had attacked with his spear. As it disappeared in a cloud of black mist, the Hydra reacted as if in pain.

A-ha!

Ganon once more raised his spear to the sky, striking the other four heads with lightning. They all began to flail around, and collapsed in to the craters their heads once occupied. As expected, columns of black mist flew from these craters, landing on the ground and dispersing to reveal four more Orochis. Again, they were all donning different colored armor; orange, green, indigo, and black.

Even for someone like Ganon, though, taking on seven Orochis might be difficult. He had to think for a moment, wondering what he could do. Thankfully, the Orochis were mindless, slowly sauntering their way over.

Then, Ganon hit upon an idea. A dangerous one, perhaps, but it might just work.

Ganon reached deep within, and his eyes began to glow an even more deathly red. Ganon disappeared within a cloud of black mist and electricity. The being that emerged was a gigantic beast, similar to Ganon but far more bestial.

It roared and reared itself back, the mere sound being enough to give the Orochis pause. The beast charged forth, straight through the group of Orochis, turning around as its charge came to a stop to survey the carnage it created.

The Orochis lay on the ground, unmoving. Gradually they disappeared in clouds of black fog, the fog forming tendrils which all congregated in one place. From there, Orochi X appeared to emerge. But something was… different. Orochi’s scythe appeared in his hand.

Beast Ganon calmed itself from its blood rage, fading in to a mass of black fog and electricity as it had before. From that, Ganondorf emerged, except now he appeared slightly different. His hair was longer, reching all the way to his lower back, his circlet and armor were more elaborate, and he now had a beard which wrapped around his chin. Black fog concentrated in his hands and two blades emerged from it. These blades were different from the blades Ganondorf had used before though. These blades were made of some black metal and were embellished with gold designs not unlike his first blade.

*Cue Music*

“Life…” Orochi uttered, “Buildings… Creation… All these things shall be destroyed. But I shall start with you.”

Orochi readied his scythe as Ganondorf did the same with his Blades of Demise.

Ganondorf merely chuckled.

Orochi charged forth, swinging his scythe in a massive arc. Ganondorf used both blades to knock the attack aside. He struck Orochi with an upward swing from one of his blades, lifting him in to the air. Then he struck him with the other blade. Then again. And again. Again. Again. Again.

Finally, Ganondorf lifted Orochi in to the air with both blades at once. He then concentrated magic in to his blades, swinging them around, seemingly erratically. But with each slash, pure black magic hovered where the blade was. As Orochi fell in front of Ganondorf, the magic let fly, knocking Orochi away.

Orochi, in response, let fly several fireballs.Ganondorf summoned a massive arm of pure dark magic from the ground and swatted the fireballs away. He quickly closed the gap, unleashing a massive onslaught of swings. Each one made contact with Orochi, staggering him.

After one final slash downward which sent Orochi flying, Ganondorf’s blades began to glow a sinister purple.

Orochi’s next attempt at an attack was blocked and Ganondorf planted a boot in Orochi, knocking him over.

Ganondorf began to rise in to the air, his hand completely covered in dark magic. He hovered over the face-down Orochi. Ganondorf began to fall with incredible speed. He slammed his hand in to the ground and a massive crater formed beneath a glowing magic circle. Upon raising his hand, he saw that he had impaled Orochi yet again.

Ganondorf began to laugh and unceremoniously cast Orochi’s dead corpse aside.

K.O.!

Xander: Well, I think there’s very few people surprised by this.

Layne: No kidding. At first glance, Orochi had this, being a full-on deity at one point in his existence, and a warrior deity at that.

Xander: But Ganondorf had the Triforce of Power, which gave him the combat skills to rival even Orochi.

Layne: The Hydra was impressive, but… Well… Remember how we said it could only be killed by a similar power?

Xander: The power of a dehumanized monster with dark powers to rival gods? Ganondorf lives and dies on that shit.

Layne: Not only that, but, even though Ganondorf is weak to light magic and weapons of light, Orochi can be defeated just as easily across the board by any kind of weapon or power. Add that to the fact Orochi had no weapons or magic of any kind that would exploit Ganondorf’s weakness against light and, at best, you have a deadlock in that respect.

Xander: Ganondorf just had to… Punch through… Lay off, coming up with puns isn’t that easy, okay?!

Layne: The winner… Is Ganondorf.

Ganondorf
+Wider arsenal
+Able to defeat Hydra
+Triforce of Power allowed for healing and augmented combat abilities
+Able to resist dark magic
=Arguably just as adept at magic

Orochi
+Greater experience as a warrior
+Arguably more durable
=Arguably just as adept at magic
-Hydra Spirit gave no power increases
-Later forms began to rely less on strategy
Legend of Zelda vs Warriors Orochi!
The Forces of Ultimate Darkness duel to see which Warlock or Demon King reign Victorious!
Can Ganondorf's Triforce of Power and Dark Magic trump Orochi's Warrior Mentality and his Orochi X and Hydra Forms? Will the Warlock Of Power destroy the Demon King? Or Will Orochi leave the King of Gerudos in the dusts of time?

Ironically nowadays this fight is actually really close, given that Orochi has universal level feats from Warriors Orochi 4 and possibly even beyond.
